THE WORLD BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE
The story begins here

The people who bring a place to life.

The guest sees a dining room, a glass of wine, a welcome at the door. Behind each is someone whose work, history and care made that moment possible.

Beyond the Reservation is a documentary and storytelling platform created by Celeste Sarabia to meet those people and follow the worlds they build. The family behind a winery. The farmer behind a dish. The doorman who has welcomed generations. The teams who turn an empty space into a place people return to.

Their voices lead the story. Their work gives it meaning.

The vision

To build a living portrait of hospitality, through the people who make it possible.

Through time spent on location, candid conversations and observation, the films explore how people learn their craft, what they inherit, what they change and what it takes to keep going.

Follow the people. Discover the whole story.

Each film begins with a person, a place or a question. These are examples of journeys shaped around the people taking part.

The origins

From the land
to the table

Spend time with a farming family, winemaker or independent producer, then follow their work into the places where it is served. Harvests, making, tasting and service reveal the relationships behind an ingredient or bottle.

The creation

The making
of a place

Follow the people bringing a restaurant, hotel or venue to life. An owner's idea meets the work of architects, designers, craftspeople and operating teams. Site visits, material choices, rehearsals and the first service reveal how a place develops its identity.

The people

A life in
hospitality

Spend a working day with a general manager, hospitality leader, doorman, bartender, host, housekeeper or long-serving team member. For general managers and hospitality leaders, that can mean 50-plus-hour weeks, carrying responsibility for the team, the business and the guest experience.

Recurring segments

The stories within the story.

Distinct perspectives. The same curiosity about the people behind the experience.

House Secrets

The rituals, knowledge and decisions guests rarely see, explained by the people who know them.

Check, Please

After Hours & Before Open

Operator Notes

Shorter observations and practical lessons from the business of hospitality.

An invitation to take part
Your story, told from the inside.

Every place has a story. Let's meet the people who made it possible.

We are looking to meet people with a distinctive relationship to their work: a family carrying something forward, a team creating something new, or someone whose everyday contribution tells a much larger story.

Filming is built around real work and real places, with time for conversation and observation. Longer documentary films and conversations are intended for YouTube, with shorter stories, photography and written features extending selected themes across social media and Substack.
